In a place once said to be paradise, there was a village on the outskirts of Athens, filled with vegetable gardens, cold springs, orchards, and tall cypress trees.
It all began in 1991 with a small kiosk at 302 Patision Street. In this very place, in 2009, the founder of the company, Mr. Charalampos Drakopoulos, started his business, Drakopoulos Charalampos Single‑Member Company. Ltd., under the trade name bd. Today, on this very spot, stands a seven‑storey parking station, built on foundations where a permanent pump still draws the water that continues to flow beneath it.
In 2013, Charalampos Drakopoulos founded the company Pythia, driven by a vision to create and produce high‑quality rolling papers, selecting premium materials from around the world.
In 2016, the company expanded its production range by adding filters for hand‑rolled cigarettes to its product portfolio, using exclusively European raw materials and manufacturing them at its facilities in Ano Patissia.
Continuing its path of innovation, the company developed high‑quality tobacco cases, offering a wide range of colors and designs, making them one of the leading choices in the market.
In 2019, the company entered dynamically into the emerging industrial hemp sector and highlighted its cultivation in the heart of Greece, where the land is fertile and the history timeless. By working exclusively with Greek producers, it guarantees high‑quality products, tested in certified laboratories across the country. Its partnership with producers from Kalamata, Halkidiki, Rethymno and Southern Crete represents an agreement rooted in respect for both tradition and innovation, bringing to light hemp products that reflect the purity and strength of the Greek nature. For the company, these collaborations are poised to usher in a new era for hemp products in the market.
In January 2020, the company strengthened its presence in the sector by assuming the role of Grand Sponsor at Cannabis Expo 2020 in Greece.
In 2023, the company was the first to introduce to the market the new‑technology Fysis rolling filters, which contain no chemicals or artificial substances, such as cellulose acetate — a type of plastic that can take up to a decade to decompose. In 2024, once again as a market pioneer, the company introduced the new‑technology Fysis rolling papers, which highlight a fresh approach to smoking. Made from wood paper and free from chemicals such as chlorine, they offer exceptional quality and enhance the natural flavor of the tobacco. Their 14 g/m² slow‑burning plant‑based paper ensures an authentic smoking experience with a rich, gourmet flavor. In addition, the Fysis rolling paper leaves zero combustion residue and is available in three natural colors: Blue, Green and Pink.
Recently, it released a series of handcrafted leather wallets, designed under close creative supervision.
